How should i treat a fingernail that was partially torn off?

my dog got into a scuffle with another dog and during the melee, my pinky nail was torn off and/or was smashed off on the asphalt. the top portion of the nail is entirely gone and there was a little bit of blood. it's very tender. i put a bandaid on with some neosporin. i've been fortunate, my nails are strong and don't usually so i'm not used to this. suggestions for treatment? How should i treat a fingernail that was partially torn off?
what you have done is right. You may need some oral pain killers %26amp; antibiotics too, if its real bad, go see a doctor. How should i treat a fingernail that was partially torn off?
Keep it clean. You don't want it to get infected!
You did the right thing. Keep the area covered with Neosporin and a band-aid. I would also suggest soaking the finger in warm water and Epsom salts to keep the raw area clean. Soaks are for 15min - once a day. How long? Just for 3-5 days only. The nail will slowly grow out over time - it'll look funny for a bit but it'll be normal. If it gets really red, swollen with creamy drainage, go to your nearest urgent care center or see your primary physician as it may be a sign of infection. Hope this helps!
